Crystal Red Shrimp - Caridina cf Cantonesis (1-2cm)
Crystal Red Caridina shrimp are small, freshwater dwarf shrimp. They are peaceful algae and biofilm eaters happiest in well-planted, fully cycled, soft, acidic aquariums. Caridina are egg-layers. They are best kept with other Caridinas.
Regular weekly 20-30% waterchanges are recommended. Suitable for pH 6.2-6.8 and water temperature of 20-24ºC. They are sensitive to rapid changes in water conditions and to high nitrate levels. They must be acclimatised slowly to new aquariums.
Also called Crystal Red Bee Shrimp, they are a selectively bred variation of Wild Bee Shrimp. Sponge filters are ideal for use with shrimp.
Diet: Shrimp are scavengers that eat biofilm and algae. They can also eat Shrimp Blocks, algae wafers and blanched zucchini or cucumber. They benefit from calcium in the water to assist moulting and healthy exoskeletons.
Copper is deadly to shrimp.
